Miniaturized components are essential for bringing to life the operations of applications with tight space restrictions. That’s why we’re excited to introduce the GS-01 gas springs, specifically designed to pair and work seamlessly alongside the PA-01 mini linear actuator, enhancing its performance in upward load-pushing tasks! Together, they create a versatile, compact solution for DIY projects, home automation systems, and other compact industry use cases. In this article, we will cover the crucial details of our GS-01 gas springs, such as their compatibility, benefits, features, and specifications.

What Makes The GS-01 Gas Spring Special?

The operation of our GS-01 gas spring is similar to the way gas struts are used when installed in car trunks to reduce the remaining load that has to be applied to open the trunk. Each GS-01 gas spring always arrives pushing out extended and requires that a load must constantly be applying force on the shaft to keep the shaft in the retracted position.

The GS-01 gas spring can be paired with our BRK-14 mounting brackets to work seamlessly alongside the PA-01 mini linear actuator, enhancing its performance in upward load-pushing tasks. High-quality materials, such as the stainless steel stroke rod, ensure durability and longevity over the years in various use cases. These gas-assisted springs utilize compressed nitrogen gas for the ability to operate without any electrical power required. During operation, nitrogen gas in the gas spring can expand from the heat accumulated after continuously being cycled and is therefore rated with a 10% duty cycle (2 minutes on, 18 minutes off) to ensure sufficient cool down.

Stroke, Force, and Dimensions

A sleek tubular design ensures our GS-01 gas springs fit seamlessly into small and tight indoor spaces, making it ideal for space-constrained environments. Available in a wide range of strokes from 3” to 13”, our GS-01 can also work as a standalone gas spring to meet diverse operational needs. Force ratings are available in the 56 lbs (dynamic and static) or 169 lbs (dynamic and static) configurations. Compared to the 56 lbs version, the measurements of the 169 lbs force model will be slightly larger, while the 56 lbs model has a faster travel speed.

Compatible Mounting Brackets

The BRK-14 mounting brackets are compatible with the GS-01 while allowing for a simple installation process. These brackets can be mounted on either the stroke or motor end and offer over 180° rotation, which works great for applications where you will be pushing at an angle. For more detailed information and specifications, please see our mounting brackets product page

Use Cases in Different Applications

The major benefit of our GS-01 as our first gas spring would be its ability to offer versatile specifications in a compact package that can operate without electrical power and be useful in applications like:

  • front struts
  • hood struts
  • hatch struts
  • trunk struts
  • gas struts for heavy lids
  • tool storage box openers
  • door openers
  • tv lift cabinet
  • stair lift support

Our linear actuators and accessories have been a part of many successful customer projects, and we are excited to see all the new possibilities our GS-01 gas struts will bring in the future when paired with our linear actuators!

Our GS-01 gas springs offer versatile specifications in a compact package!

IN SUMMARY

Our GS-01 gas springs offer versatile specifications in a sleek tubular design that can handle a variety of application requirements. The compatibility with BRK-14 mounting brackets and the ability to operate with no electrical power allows for easy integration to enhance systems that use the PA-01 actuator.

We hope you found this as informative and interesting as we did, especially if you were looking for gas springs to enhance your actuator projects or serve as stand-alone components.
