Can I replace an existing actuator with a Progressive Automations model?

A replacement must match the application’s mechanical, electrical and control requirements. Compare force, stroke, retracted and extended lengths, mounting points, voltage, current, connectors and feedback. Use our replacement finder or contact our team to review compatibility.

Can I use my own power supply?

Yes, if its output voltage matches the actuator and it provides sufficient current for the actuator and controller, including startup requirements. Confirm the product specifications and provide appropriate wiring and circuit protection.

Can I synchronize multiple linear actuators?

Compatible position-feedback actuators and a synchronization controller are needed to compare and correct movement. Internal end-of-stroke limit switches alone do not provide the position information needed for synchronization. Confirm the actuator and controller combination before ordering.

Do you offer custom actuator configurations?

How do I choose between 12V vs. 24V Linear Actuators?
Check the output voltage of the control box and power source you currently have or will plan to use. This voltage value will be the suitable actuator voltage you would choose for ensuring system compatibility. If both 12V and 24V actuators, control boxes, and power sources happen to all be suitable for your needs and control requirements, the 24V system does offer the advantage of lower current draw to reduce the risk of overheating.
Which linear actuators are suitable for outdoor use?
Linear actuators with an IP65 ingress protection rating provides complete dust protection and resistance to low-pressure water jets from any direction when static. This ingress protection rating (or higher) is suitable for most outdoor applications where equipment may be exposed to rain or occasional water spray.
